2011 Funding Opportunities

  • Summer College Student Fellowships

The Applied Plant Ecology division of San Diego Zoo’s Institute for Conservation Research has two fellowship positions available for summer 2011. Applications must be received by February 28, 2011. Both for undergraduate and Master's level students are eligible to apply. Applied Plant Ecology focuses on conservation, sustainable management and restoration of ecosystems worldwide. Students will have the opportunity to conduct independent research projects while participating in many of the division’s other projects and activities.

In 2011 the fellows will focus on research here in Southern California including a post-fire coastal sage scrub and cactus scrub restoration project in a 900 acre nature preserve in San Pasqual Valley as well as a grassland restoration research project near Temecula. These projects provide an opportunity to work on plant population and community ecology while also exploring interactions between habitat and wildlife. Internships are 12 weeks in duration. Interns receive a modest stipend for the summer. For more information about the fellowship program and apply online go HERE
